How To Make Ceremonial Cacao ❤️✨

Sitting in ceremony with cacao begins as you make your ceremonial cacao. This is the perfect time to be in the present moment and infuse your intention into the cacao.

To make your ceremonial cacao beverage you will need:
5 – 20 discs (10g – 40g) of ceremonial grade cacao
125 – 250mls of water, herbal tea, or non dairy milk of your choice
1 – 2 tsp of sweetener, honey, or maple syrup (optional)

Gently heat the water to 80 degrees celsius. (175 F)
 Do not use boiling water when making ceremonial cacao as this could cause the beneficial nutrients to be lost.

Add the discs to the hot water. The number of discs will depend on:
– how sensitive you are to cacao, as cacao can be stimulating
– how much time you will be in ceremony for, 15mins, 1 hour, 3 hours

I always suggest starting with a smaller dose of cacao, 3 – 5 discs, and observing how your body responds. Remember how you respond could change depending on what is going on in your life, the intention you set, and what time of day you sit in ceremony.

For me, I have found that in most ceremonies I use between 4 – 6 discs with about 125mls of water and for my longer ceremonies I may use up to 8 – 10 discs in 250mls of water. Tune in and feel what is right for you.

Blend together the liquid and cacao to make it creamy. This can be done with a blender or a handheld frother. Then pour into your favourite ceremonial cup.

While making your ceremonial cacao you can hold your intention in your heart, say your intention aloud as you place the cacao discs into the water, sing or tone, or listen to music. How do you wish to express yourself in this moment of presence?
